QR code platform alternatives

Guides for people already planning to move. Each one covers the redirect-chaining method that lets you switch platforms without reprinting a single code, what to verify before you commit, and the realistic options — including the ones we do not make.

The one rule for switching QR platforms

Never cancel before you migrate. A dynamic code is a redirect you do not own, and the moment the subscription lapses you are relying on your old vendor's policy for lapsed accounts — which, across this industry, is the single most complained-about thing there is.

Repoint first, verify the scans are arriving, reprint at your own pace, and only then consider cancelling. Full method on any of the pages above.

Four questions that predict whether you will be here again

Most people arrive at a page like this because a platform did something they did not expect. These are the questions that would have surfaced it before the print run:

  • What happens to my dynamic codes if I stop paying? Ask for the answer in the terms of service, not in a sales reply. A vendor whose terms are silent on this has reserved the right to switch your codes off.
  • Is scan recording capped, separately from redirects? A platform can leave your codes resolving perfectly while quietly ceasing to record the scans. That failure arrives at the exact moment a campaign starts working.
  • Can I export a static fallback image for every dynamic code? This is the single most revealing question, because it is the one that determines whether leaving is actually possible without reprinting.
  • What does a custom domain cost? Prices for the same capability vary across this category by a factor of more than a hundred, which tells you a lot about how a vendor thinks about its pricing ladder.

We publish our own answers to all four, and the comparison pages above record what each competitor publishes, with the date we checked.
