Permanence Kit

An export of static fallback codes plus full data, so you can leave without reprinting.

A Permanence Kit is an export containing, for every dynamic code on an account, a static QR code encoding that code's current destination directly — plus a CSV of every code and where it points, and the full scan history.

What it solves. A dynamic code depends on its platform. A static code depends on nobody. Holding a static equivalent of each code means that if the platform raises prices, changes terms, is acquired or shuts down, you can reprint from the fallbacks and owe no one anything.

Why it is the real test of a vendor. Almost every platform offers a CSV export of codes and scans. Very few offer a static fallback image per dynamic code, because that is the artifact that makes leaving genuinely possible. It is a good question to ask before committing to any platform, including ours.

What it does not cover. Static fallbacks encode the destination at the moment of export, so they need regenerating if destinations change, and they cannot be tracked.

In practice

A print shop keeps its ZIP alongside the artwork files for every job. Inside static-fallbacks/ there is one SVG per dynamic code, each encoding that code's destination directly. If the QR platform doubled its price tomorrow, the shop could reprint from those SVGs and owe nobody anything.

The one maintenance task: fallbacks capture destinations as they were on the day of export. If a destination changes, re-export. Treating it like a backup — refreshed on a schedule, stored with the artwork — is the right mental model.

Questions

Do static fallbacks look identical to the original codes?

No, and they cannot. They encode a different (longer) string, so the pattern differs. They are replacements to print, not copies of what is already printed.

Should I ask other vendors for this?

Yes. "Can I export a static fallback image for each of my dynamic codes?" is the single most revealing question you can ask a QR platform, because it is the one that determines whether leaving is actually possible.
